Users can now directly share their favorite movies and TV series thanks to a new feature that Google recently quietly added to the Google TV app. This feature, which is currently available on iOS and Android, enables users to send a link to particular app content in an effort to facilitate show recommendations to friends and family. Only users of the Google TV app, however, are able to fully view the shared content.
Using Google TV on iOS and Android, share with a tap
By tapping the share button on any movie or show, Android users of Google TV can share a link via text, email, or social media. If the recipient has the Google TV app installed, a direct link will take them to the particular title. Depending on the device, the link either takes the user to the Google TV website or asks them to download the app from the app store if it isn’t already installed
The Google TV share feature for iOS and Android has been added, making the app more useful for fans who wish to make fast movie and TV show recommendations. Users can share their favorite content today to test out the feature, which is now live.
One intriguing drawback of this function is that in order for the recipient to view the content via the shared link, they must have the Google TV app. Without it, the link reroutes to the app store without offering any more details on the film or television program. Although this could seem constrictive, by guaranteeing a consistent in-app experience, it supports Google’s objective of increasing the number of active Google TV users. This functionality might be especially helpful to Android users who already use Google TV.
New feature takes into account the expanding social experience
The internet giant is working to make content sharing easier with the launch of the Google TV share feature. This update may encourage more social interaction around Google TV’s offers because it also accommodates the iPhone’s larger user base.
