A Stellar Year for South Indian Cinema

Monika Shergill, VP of Content at Netflix India, reflected on the platform’s success in 2024. “Last year was extraordinary for Netflix India, as Tamil films captured global audiences like never before,” she said. “Hits like Amaran, GOAT, Maharaja, and Meiyazhagan showcased the universal appeal of authentic storytelling. With 2025, the excitement is only set to grow.”

Speaking about Telugu content, Shergill added, “2024 was an incredible year for Telugu cinema on Netflix. Blockbusters like Devara, Guntur Kaaram, Hi Nanna, Lucky Baskhar, Salaar, and Saripodhaa Sanivaaram dominated watchlists, trended across social media, and garnered love from fans and critics worldwide. 2025 promises to build on this momentum.”
