Managing director of GroupM Services Willie Pang is stepping down, only months in the wake of being promoted from MediaCom CEO.
Pang will be getting back to the tech client sector, at Limepay, an organization he is now on the board of. The news comes simply under a month after Aimee Buchanan was reported as the new GroupM CEO.
Pang will stay at GroupM until the year’s end, with a search for his replacement already in progress.
A GroupM representative said: “GroupM’s ongoing transformation continues at pace in line with our global strategy. Willie has played an impactful leadership role for our clients and people over many years and in laying the foundations for GroupM Services in Australia. Willie remains with the business until the end of the year, and we will communicate his replacement in due course. We wish him all the best with this exciting new opportunity.”
GroupM said it will be business as usual for the rest of the year, and his substitution will be a part of the next phase of GroupM services.
Pang has been executive chairman at Limepay since February this year.
Pang was raised into the group role in April to work with the CEOs of every one of GroupM’s agencies and investment teams to align the business to GroupM’s global transformation team to further develop proficiency and results for customers through carrying out information, technology and process improvements.
This came soon after Mark Lollback stepped down from the GroupM CEO role in March, presently to be supplanted by Buchanan.
Pang had been with MediaCom since 2015, beginning as chief digital office prior to being raised to chief operating officer and lastly CEO in 2018. He was supplanted at MediaCom by Yaron Farizon, beforehand CEO of MediaCom Russia and MediaCom Connections Israel.
