Elon Musk is currently saying that Tesla is focusing on the more extensive public release of its Full Self-Driving Beta in around a month.
We are coming up on close to 12 months since Tesla began testing its Full Self-Driving Beta in its early access program for certain clients.
The software enables Tesla vehicles to virtually drive themselves both on highways and city roads, yet it is as yet thought to be a level 2 driver help since it requires driver supervision at all times. The driver stays responsible for the vehicle, requirements to keep their hands on the steering wheel, and be prepared to take control.
CEO Elon Musk has been promising a more extensive release of the Full Self-Driving Beta software to clients who bought the FSD package, yet the release has been deferred for some time.
All the more recently, the CEO has connected the more extensive release to Tesla pushing another FSD Beta version 10 update, which has been expected after two more “point releases” in the coming weeks.
In a new comment on Twitter today, Musk says that the plan has obviously changed and Tesla presently plans to push FSD Beta v10 to the early access fleet next week.
After that release, the CEO is relied upon for it to get tested for around a month prior to the more extensive release:
“We should be there with Beta 10, which goes out a week from Friday (no point release this week). It will have a completely retrained NN, so will need another few weeks after that for tuning & bug fixes. Best guess is a public beta button in ~4 weeks.”
The more extensive release is relied upon to appear as a download button for individuals who bought the FSD package to decide whether or not to download the FSD Beta software.
Tesla as of late pushed a new version 9.2 of FSD Beta, which Musk wasn’t dazzled with, however he has been specifically testing v9.3 and enjoyed the new version.
Presently it seems like v9.3 will become v10, and will get pushed to the early access fleet for testing before a more extensive release.
