Minnesota running back Mohamed Ibrahim’s fantastic beginning to the 2021 season had all the earmarks of being stopped when he experienced a horrifying lower left leg injury Thursday night against Ohio State.
Ibrahim experienced the injury second from last quarter against the Buckeyes. A replay seemed to show a piece of his lower leg fly as he was attempting to make a cut. He attempted to stroll off the field under his own force however went down and must be tended to via coaches.
In the final quarter, the FOX broadcast showed Ibrahim in a boot and strolling once more into the storage space under his own force. The specific idea of the injury was hazy.
David J. Chao, the Pro Football Doc for Outkick, composed on Twitter he trusted it was an Achilles burst tear from the start.
“Will be OK in long run but not this season. By video, clear left Achilles tendon rupture. Fairly classic. Season over and surgery,” he speculated.
Ibrahim helped keep the Golden Gophers in the game against Ohio State. He had 30 conveys for 162 yards and two scores prior to leaving the game. Minnesota was driving 14-10 at halftime.
Last season, he scrambled for 1,076 yards and 15 scores in a Covid affected season.
