The actor, best known for playing Carl Grimes in the zombie apocalypse thriller, is the star of The Spider, a non-profit fan film that takes a horror approach to Peter Parker’s superhero narrative and is not associated with or supported by Marvel, Sony, or Disney.
After being bitten by a radioactive spider, Peter is shown in the video in agony as he walks through the pitch-black streets. But soon, as bloodied faces and violent flashes taunt, his newly discovered abilities begin causing horrible things.
Remarkably, Riggs tried out for the role of Friendly Neighbor Spider-Man as the MCU was preparing the character for his major reveal.
In the end, Tom Holland was cast in the part, and in 2018, Riggs told reporters, “I didn’t even get a call back. I just auditioned for it, and it’s fine.”
He went on, “I auditioned for Spider-Man, I auditioned for [Solo: A Star Wars Story], all those big movies. I would love to do something like that. It would be awesome, especially now that I have a lot more free time, it would be really, really cool.”
In the meantime, the actor committed to work on the horror film Hacked in October of last year.
“Hacked follows the story of a family who loses everything to a prolific and elusive hacker, aptly named ‘The Chameleon’,” the synopsis states. “Parents Amy and Mark have $20,000 stolen, and their kids Ralph and Freddy get their entire digital lives hacked — social media, video game items, even their pointless online homework!”
“When the bank, social media platforms, and law enforcement aren’t able to help, the family takes matters into their own hands.”
