According to sources, Francesca Reale (Stranger Things) has been cast in the role of Katherine Langford in the Starz drama series The Venery Of Samantha Bird.
The eight-episode series, which was created by Anna Moriarty, follows Samantha Bird, who plays Langford. While visiting family in New England, Samantha Bird reconnects with her childhood sweetheart and plunges headfirst into a storybook romance that seems like it should be. However, there is a more unsettling interpretation of this affair hidden beneath their fever dream. A haunting portrayal of addictive love and the effects that a relationship has on families in a small New England town is how the series is described.
Reale is said to be playing Sam’s younger sister, Ellie Bird.
Moriarty likewise fills in as chief maker. Executive producer and showrunner is Waco’s Salvatore Stabile. Through her Pacesetter Productions shingle, Jessica Rhoades (Station Eleven, Sharp Objects) is the executive producer, and Rachel Polan is the co-executive producer. Jessica Yu (Fosse/Verdon, Billions) is counseling producer. The Venery of Samantha Bird is produced by Lionsgate Television and Paramount Television Studios.
Reale is best known for her roles as Hawkins lifeguard Heather Holloway in Netflix’s third season of Stranger Things and Emily in Netflix’s Haters Back Off! as a series regular. She recently finished filming the leads for Amazon’s romantic comedy Msica and Lionsgate’s horror film Creepers. Gersh and Atlas Artists are Reale’s agents.
