At India’s Auto Expo, Maruti Suzuki intends to unveil two brand-new SUVs and an electric SUV concept.
The automaker was coy on specifics, but Maruti Suzuki CEO Hisashi Takeuchi said “Auto Expo’23 is yet another opportunity for us to showcase our commitment towards the future of mobility through our range of sustainable and technology driven products.”
The executive went on to say that the event will be used by the company to show that they want a future that is “cleaner, greener, sustainable and carbon neutral” future. He added the concept will be “futuristic” and “capture the imagination of enthusiasts.”
That isn’t much, but Maruti Suzuki will have 16 vehicles on display when the show starts next month. The Brezza, Baleno, Ciaz, Ertiga, Grand Vitara, and Swift, as well as a prototype of the WagonR flex fuel vehicle, will be on display.
Although Maruti Suzuki did not provide many specifics, Autocar India claims that the two new models will be a crossover coupe based on the Baleno and a five-door Jimny. The first was seen unmasked earlier this month, and depending on the market, reports have suggested that it will have a naturally aspirated 1.5-liter engine with outputs of 107 hp (79 kW/108 PS).
On the other hand, the concept is said to show a Hyundai Creta-sized electric vehicle that will be built in Gujarat and sold by 2025.
