Motorola has officially introduced the first smartphone in its midrange Edge 60 series, the Edge 60 Fusion, featuring a distinctive faux-canvas finish. Priced at just £299.99 (approximately $390) in the UK, this device brings a stylish design and competitive features at an affordable price point.
A Unique Canvas-Inspired Design
The Edge 60 Fusion’s standout feature is its canvas-effect texture, available exclusively in the amazonite (teal) color variant. Other color options include blue and pink, which feature a faux-leather finish instead. This design choice adds a premium feel to the phone, setting it apart from traditional midrange models.
In addition to its stylish aesthetics, the phone is built for durability, boasting IP68 and IP69 ratings, ensuring full protection against dust, water immersion, and high-pressure sprays.
Display, Battery, and Performance
The Edge 60 Fusion is impressively slim, measuring less than 8mm thick, despite packing a 5,200mAh battery behind its 6.67-inch OLED display. Some international models feature an even larger 5,500mAh battery, but at the cost of a slightly thicker build.
Under the hood, the device offers up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, but performance may be limited by its MediaTek Dimensity 7300 or 7400 chipset, depending on the market. While these processors deliver decent midrange performance, they might not match the power of flagship competitors.
Camera Capabilities
Despite its quad-lens appearance, the Edge 60 Fusion’s camera system is relatively simple. The setup includes a 50MP main sensor and a 13MP ultrawide lens, with the remaining two elements being a flash and a flicker sensor. While this configuration delivers solid photography capabilities, it lacks the versatility of higher-end models.
Edge 60 Series and Motorola’s Future Plans
The Edge 60 Fusion is just the beginning of Motorola’s new smartphone lineup. Last year’s Edge 50 series included five models, and more Edge 60 devices are expected to follow soon. However, like its predecessors, the Edge 60 series is unlikely to launch in the US. Instead, American consumers can opt for the Moto G Power (2024) for $299.99, though it lacks the OLED display and unique textured design of the Edge 60 Fusion.
Motorola is also rumored to be preparing new Razr flip phones, with speculation pointing to a wooden-finish design—a nostalgic throwback to the 2014 wood-backed Moto X.
With its canvas-effect finish, OLED display, and competitive pricing, the Motorola Edge 60 Fusion is an attractive option in the midrange smartphone segment. As Motorola continues expanding its lineup, the brand is clearly focusing on both aesthetic appeal and functional innovation. Stay tuned for more updates on the Edge 60 series and Motorola’s upcoming devices.
