Here is the first look at Kung Fu Panda 4, which includes a crazy cast of new and returning characters along with Jack Black’s return as Po.
Fans are treated to a preview of what can be expected in the upcoming action-packed installment of the critically acclaimed animated series. Po will be getting ready to give up his Dragon Warrior duties in order to take on the role of Spiritual Leader of the Valley of Peace. However, he must first train Zhen, a cunning and witty fox, who will be his successor.
One of the new cast members who will be replacing Zhen’s voice is Awkwafina, a Golden Globe winner. Together with her are two other newcomers, Ke Huy Quan, who joins the Kung Fu Panda cast as Han, the leader of the Den of Thieves, and Viola Davis, who plays the evil and formidable shape-shifting lizard Chameleon.
As the voice of Po, the main character of the franchise, Jack Black returns. Other cast members include Dustin Hoffman as Kung Fu master Shifu, Ian McShane as the sinister and dangerous Tai Lung, Shifu’s former student and arch-nemesis, James Hong as Mr. Ping, Po’s adoptive father, Bryan Cranston as Li, and James Hong as Po.
This movie is the first full-length installment in the franchise since DreamWorks’ original film trilogy was concluded in 2016 with Kung Fu Panda 3. A number of animated television specials and series have also been inspired by the franchise; one such example is The Dragon Knight on Netflix, which debuted its third and final season in September.
In August 2022, DreamWorks Animation formally declared that Kung Fu Panda 4 was under production. This marked the series’ comeback to the big screen after a protracted break. On March 8, 2024, the eagerly awaited fourth installment—which is helmed by Mike Mitchell and co-directed by Stephanie Ma Stine—will hit theaters.
