TCS Establishes an Ohio Internet of Things Engineering Lab

The opening of a new Internet of Things (IoT) engineering lab in the US was announced on Tuesday by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), the largest IT services and consulting company in India. The Cincinnati, Ohio-based lab is set up to facilitate large-scale implementation of AI, GenAI, and IoT engineering solutions, as well as quick prototyping and experimentation. According to a press statement from the company, this will allow TCS to help clients bring creative solutions to life faster and more effectively.

The 3,000 square foot lab will accelerate the implementation of TCS’s all-inclusive array of IoT solutions, which includes, among others, TCS Digifleet, TCS Digital Manufacturing Platform (DMP), and TCS Clever Energy.

Numerous industries, including manufacturing, consumer packaged products, healthcare and life sciences, energy and resources, and more, are served by these solutions. Together with merging physical assets, partner technology, and customer concerns to generate new services and solutions, the lab will also support business-to-business collaboration and co-innovation.

The lab will also feature TCS’s cutting-edge technologies, like the TCS Neural Manufacturing solution, which gives factories intelligent and autonomous capabilities, and the TCS Connected Healthcare Platform, which provides solutions for personalized medicine.

According to TCS President of America Amit Bajaj,  “company’s investment in the Bringing Life to Things Lab in Ohio will help our clients bridge the traditional divide between operational and digital technology by rapidly turning their ideas into minimum viable products that reimagine their value chain at scale.” The lab’s strategic location in Cincinnati, the site of TCS’s largest American delivery center, puts it in a good position to take use of the IT expertise in the area and support clients throughout North America.

According to TCS’s Global Head of IoT and Digital Engineering, Regu Ayyaswamy, the lab would “spark co-innovation, enabling clients to brainstorm and collaborate through design thinking workshops and unlock the full potential of IoT, AI, and GenAI technologies.”

TCS is well-established in the US in a number of sectors, including manufacturing, retail, healthcare, banking, and financial services. Digital transformation, cloud computing, data analytics, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity are just a few of the many services it provides.

over half of TCS’s entire revenue comes from North America; in the fiscal year 2022–2023, the region brought in over 1.2 trillion Indian rupees. The corporation operates offices and delivery centers all throughout the country, including in Ohio, New York, Chicago, Dallas, San Francisco, and other major cities.

For the fiscal year that ends on March 31, 2024, TCS reported consolidated revenues of $29.08 billion in April. This represents a 4.1% increase from the previous year. Even though TCS is reporting one of its lowest annual revenue growth rates to date, its large-cap IT services company ranking for FY24 is still among the top.
