The latest mid-range smartphones from Chinese upstart firm Realme, the Realme 12 Pro and 12 Pro+, were unsurprisingly unveiled. Both have been formally launched in India, and at a later time, it is anticipated that they would also be made available in Europe.
The Realme 12 Pro+, the most potent of the two, boasts a large 6.7-inch OLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz and a touch sampling rate of 240Hz. The phone has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 CPU, 8/12GB RAM, and 128/256GB of internal storage in terms of hardware.
But the phone’s photographic capabilities are probably its biggest selling feature. A 50-megapixel Sony IMX890 primary sensor, a 64-megapixel periscope telephoto with a 3x optical zoom, and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera make up the triple camera setup of the Realme 12 Pro+.
Furthermore, the Realme 12 Pro+ boasts an enormous 5,000 mAh battery that can support 67W charging, a 32-megapixel selfie camera, and Android 14. Three colors are available for the phone: Explorer Red, Navigator Beige, and Submariner Blue. It can be purchased in India for as little as INR 29,999 ($360 / €330). For the foreseeable future, the former will only be available in India.
A few notable exceptions, like as a significantly reduced camera setup and a slower processor, set the vanilla Realme 12 Pro apart from the competition with nearly identical features. The phone has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 CPU instead of an OLED 6.7-inch display.
The Realme 12 Pro has three cameras on its back: an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera, a 32-megapixel telephoto camera, and a 50-megapixel primary camera using a Sony IMX882 sensor. For taking selfies, the phone also features a 16-megapixel front-facing camera.
Similar to the 12 Pro+ variant, the ordinary model runs on a 5,000 mAh battery that supports 67W charging. The Realme 12 Pro is available with 8/128GB and 8/256GB of RAM. The former is INR 25,999 ($310 / €290) in India right now, while the latter is INR 26,999 ($325 / €300).
