WhatsApp Uses Meta AI to Create New AI-Generated Avatars that Aim to Challenge Apple Intelligence

When Apple Intelligence is released later this year, it will include a number of new features, some of which will leverage the capabilities of generative AI. Although Apple Intelligence will allow users to instruct it to make photographs, this capability is by no means exclusive, as WhatsApp has recently joined the fray.

Although it hasn’t been formally revealed yet, a recent beta version of the WhatsApp app for Android has revealed a new feature that lets users snap a selfie and then utilize generative AI to use it as inspiration for future photographs.

Although it hasn’t been released yet, the concept suggests that this would be used to generate unique avatars for WhatsApp users. This may be a helpful tool for individuals who prefer something a little different from their typical selfie picture.

Avatars Created by AI

Although the new feature initially appeared in the Android app, we can expect it to soon be extended to the iPhone app as well. It was originally noticed by the beta monitors over at WABetaInfo.

The Meta AI feature appears to be well-liked by individuals who enjoy changing their avatars on a regular basis.

“This feature will allow users to take a single set of photos, which Meta AI will then use to generate AI images,” WABetaInfo states. “Users must take setup photos that will be analyzed to create these images, ensuring that the generated images accurately represent their appearance. It’s important to mention that users will retain full control over this feature, as they can delete their setup photos at any time through the Meta AI settings.”

The public release date for this new generative AI tool is still unknown, although WhatsApp typically does a fantastic job of bringing innovations from the beta to the finished product.
