Xenoblade Chronicles X Could Hit 60 FPS on Nintendo Switch 2

Recent discoveries in the code of Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition for the Nintendo Switch have sparked speculation that the game could receive a 60 FPS upgrade on the upcoming Switch 2.

Modder MasaGratoR unearthed an unused 60 FPS mode while exploring the game’s files. However, he noted that this mode is only partially implemented and causes various issues, such as rendering inconsistencies and jittery cutscenes. The discovery suggests that Monolith Soft may have attempted to implement a higher framerate but faced limitations on the current hardware.

With the rumored Switch 2 boasting significantly improved specs, including a more powerful GPU and enhanced processing capabilities, many believe that Xenoblade Chronicles X could run at a stable 60 FPS on the new system. However, Nintendo has yet to confirm whether backward-compatible games will receive performance upgrades.

Originally released on the Wii U in 2015, Xenoblade Chronicles X was praised for its expansive open world and engaging gameplay. The Definitive Edition, launched on Switch on March 20, features improved visuals and additional story content, making it a prime candidate for an upgrade on Nintendo’s next console.

As anticipation for the Switch 2 grows, fans eagerly await official confirmation from Nintendo regarding enhancements for older titles. A smoother, higher-framerate Xenoblade Chronicles X could be a major selling point for the new console, bringing the beloved RPG to an even broader audience.
